Are You Afraid of the Dark?

On my cousins blog I noticed her little girl was having a hard time sleeping because she was afraid to be alone in her room at night. I thought I would post the problem on here and see if the "collective genius" had any genius solutions! Anyone have a good method of helping children not be scared at night?

We did spray bottles of water with just a hint of color in them and called it monster spray. We hung it on the end of Andrews bed and when ever he would get scared he would spray the water on what ever was scaring him (under the bed, the closet the shadow in the corner...)
It actually worked really well.
We also have noticed on the nights that we skipped family prayer/scriptures/personal prayers that the kids had a harder time. We talked about it one night at FHE and now when ever the kids have bad dreams or get scared they say a prayer and 99% of the time that works to calm them down and help them feel peace.

We put our kids light on a dimmer. It seemed to help a lot.

We also used a dimmer...you can get one from IKEA for about $6 that connects to any lamp. We also put in a button light (I don't really know what they're called) on the wall above his pillow that he can push and the light will go on. I love the spray idea too. I might have to try that sometime.
