We love the little critter books by Mercer Meyer, but I don't know if your oldest would love them.
Okay...I was wondering this earlier in the week. I looked on Amazon and came across a book called The Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease. He talks about why it is SO important to read to your kids and he give suggestions. So tomorrow I will be going to pick this book up from the library for some good advice :)
Knuffle Bunny
How Does a Dinosaur Eat his Food (etc.)
Pirates Don't Change Diapers
I've come across quite a few good ones, I just don't remember
I love children's literature and I consider myself somewhat of an expert on them. Some of our favorites are:
Dr. De Soto
Magic School Bus (obviously)
Skippyjon Jones (really fun)
Fanny's Dream
Madeline (the books)
Olivia
The kissing hand (cute not a great vocabulary but still tender)
King Bidgood
Fish is Fish
The Tickle Octopus
These are just a few and everyone's tastes are different but We really enjoy these in our home. I don't know how Tyson will feel about some of the girl ones but Eliza will begin to love them. I would say find books with great vocabulary that spark conversation.
going on a bear hunt is a favorite, and we listen to it on cd in the car a lot.
troy's dad just sent "walter the farting dog." hahaha. try that one for a good laugh!
Some of the books my boys like are books by Bill Peet and Kevin Henkes plus Dumpy the Dumptruck books.
Some of our favorites (even from my childhood)-
Tikki Tikki Tembo
The Tale of Three Trees-a Traditional Folktale
The Mitten-or any Jan Brett stories
Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel/Katy and the Big Snow/The Little House/Choo Choo-any Virginia Lee Burton classics
And of course, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
It's hard to only name a few!
