OK-I'm back now. We are all moved and everything is mostly unpacked (but still very messy). Of course, it will take me a super long time of working on the house until I feel comfortable in it but at the worst of it is behind me!
Which means....
...Time for blogging again :)
Here is my newest question for everyone out there:
Tyson starts full day kindergarten in a few weeks. I gotta be honest, I'm a little freaked out. I had absolutely no problems dropping him off at preschool but that seemed so different; small class with two teachers, only a few hours a couple of times a week. Now he will go to school for 6 1/2 hours 5 days a week and he just turned 5 a month ago! I am wondering if anyone has any tips for me on how to make the transition easier for both of us. Or maybe even stories you have when your children started school, so I know what to be prepared for. It is crazy that he is going to school already. I still can barely believe it!

Full day, huh? Well I can tell you what the transition was when my kids went from part-day kindergarten to full-day first grade. It's hard. Just know it will take him a bit to get used to it. He'll be really tired and Emily would be kind of a pain and rude. I don't know that I have any advice, just know it will take a bit to get adjusted, but I think he'll love it and be fine, he's such a good kid.
I completely agree with Julie. Just think you may get that later rise time in the morning. He's going to be so tired after school!
Last year we also moved right before Kindergarten started. I was shocked to learn it was full-day. Fortunatley, there really weren't any problems. She was so excited. I was worried she'd get bored, but that was never an issue. Her issue was anxiety, and the teacher/school took well care of that. They had a meet the teacher a few days before school started, if your school doesn't, see if they'll let you bring Tyson to show him around and insist on meeting the teacher and her classroom. Also, tears the morning of were cured when the teacher allowed kids to play with playdough while parents dropped off kids and she was so happy she didn't mind when I left, well, maybe a tear, but the teacher was great. Hopefully it will go really well for Tyson. As for you, 6 1/2 hours will go by so slowly, but by the end of the year it will come before you know it! Eat lunch with him one a week or two, volunteer to help in the class and for parties. It's SO fun to see your kids at school doing their own school thing!
I know I am a little slow to comment and Tyson has probably already started school, but I wanted to tell you my thoughts. When Jared started half-day kindergarten, I was sad to have him go. It is a pain to pick up/take them for only half a day but I thought all day for a 5 year old was too much. Plus, I would miss him! Now that Julie has started half-day kindergarten, I wish it was full day! Mostly because I hate to have that break where they have to be dropped off or picked up but I think it is because I still have two other kids at home! Good luck and I second the vote to go volunteer in his class often.
